Help lead the way

Staying true to our mission to empower and enhance the quality of life of adults age 50 and over requires much foresight and planning.  Developing future lay leadership holds the key. “As a recent graduate of the first group of the Helen Levy Leadership Development Program, I feel I am equipped to motivate others and ensure the continued stability and growth of the Cummings Centre,” says Cheryl Vockathaler.

Develop and enhance leadership skills

Training and Development Associate Sandra Amar points out that the program, funded through a generous donation by Helen Levy, has given participants the opportunity to develop and enhance their leadership skills. “We have put together a stimulating program including topics addressing the stages of aging, how to effectively lead people and public speaking skills,” says Sandra. “We encouraged participants to discover what resonated individually for them so they will be ready to assume leadership positions.”

Giving back to the community

“I want to give back to my community, motivating younger seniors to join in while ensuring the needs are met for those seniors with mobility or cognitive challenges, moving forward well into the future,” says Cheryl.
