Everyday is father’s day

With three daughters, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, Jack Margolis says everyday is father’s day. Spending time with family is what he cherishes the most and to top it all off, most of his family live in Montreal.

“As the years move along, we want to acknowledge my father on this Father’s Day,” says daughter Monica. “Time is more precious now. As my father is 92 years old, this is also an occasion to be thankful.”

The Cummings Centre, it’s a family thing

Monica, also a member of the Cummings Centre, reflects on a time when she and her dad attended a current events class at the Centre. The two always had lively political discussions, so going to a current events class together at the Centre gave them an added opportunity to discuss fresh topics that came up.

”The Cummings Centre provides a good venue to go to class together,” adds Monica. “I am sure my dad enjoyed the course and I can say that it even enhanced our relationship.”

Daughter Janie Etinson is glad her dad is able to spend time at the Cummings Centre, especially since he is very active. “He attends the Centre, where he partakes in the many activities available,” she said.

The Centre is an important part of Janie’s life as well. She has co-chaired the Golda Meir Committee (CJCS Foundation) and is a Governor. She also takes advantage of the courses the Centre offers.

Staying active

“I hold the Centre very dear to me heart,” she says. “And I’m happy my parents are able to benefit from the activities, lectures and classes the Centre offers. I am grateful we have such a gem as the Cummings Centre.”

Both daughters agree that it is important at their parent’s age that they stay active and keep busy. The Centre is key to that. And it’s a place where Jack Margolis and his daughters can celebrate Father’s Day every day of the year.

The Cummings Centre’s mission is to empower and enhance the quality of life of adults age 50 and over by providing dynamic and innovative programs, social services, and volunteer opportunities in a vibrant, respectful, inclusive and compassionate environment.
