Finding her niche

The Cummings Centre is the perfect fit for exercise enthusiast Connie Abramovitch.

Since taking an active role in the organisation five years ago, the longstanding member has not looked back.

Connie’s passion

Abramovitch has developed a passion for the cardio dance and aerobics classes, offered Mondays and Wednesday and Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively. “I like to be busy, I need to be busy. I recommend the Centre to people because it’s a very good institution where we have a lot of things which could be of interest to just about anyone. There’s something here for everybody.”

The 88 year old also volunteers in the registration department, and is most proud of the bonds of friendships developed along the way. “I keep myself happy and I’ve become acquainted with a great many people, particularly because I’m here and I’ve joined a group here called Circle of Friends. Being with people makes it good.”

The Cummings Centre’s mission is to empower and enhance the quality of life of adults age 50 and over by providing dynamic and innovative programs, social services, and volunteer opportunities in a vibrant, respectful, inclusive and compassionate environment. Building on its Jewish heritage, Cummings embraces people from all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
