Claire Berger and her mother, Ruth Berger

For Claire Berger, her mother, Ruth Berger, gives her reason to celebrate. Not just on Mother’s Day but every day by being together and doing things together.

Claire and her mom take part in the Cummings Centre’s Drop-In Program for Older Adults.

Drop-In Program for Older Adults

Held at the Cote Saint-Luc Aquatic and Community Centre, the program offers respite to caregivers and helps to maintain and improve the social, psychological, emotional and cognitive abilities of older adults.

The program is held in collaboration with the City of Cote Saint-Luc and the Integrated Health and Community Services University Network for West-Central Montreal.

Ruth and Claire began attending the Drop-In Program in the Autumn of 2018.

“I am 92 year’s old. It’s a pleasure to come out and socialize with other people. Especially, the people in this program,” Ruth says.

Claire joins her mom at the program as often as she can.

Each and Every Day

Ruth says she and Claire team up to go to other activities as well.

“We go to museums together, travel together, go to the theater together. This year, we will go on our yearly trip to Stratford by train and see six plays in three days!”

Typically, Ruth joins Claire and the rest of the family for brunch at Claire’s home.

Claire says she celebrates Mother’s Day with her mother every day not just one day of the year.

“Our motto is “You should celebrate your mother each and every day. Mother’s Day is an extra day to be together.”
