ADAPTED EXERCISE FOR FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT

DESCRIPTION
Do you have difficulty walking and maintaining your balance? Do you rely on a walker in your home or a wheelchair for longer distances? Then join Anne for this 30 minute functional movement class that focuses on slow and controlled weight-bearing and leg strengthening exercises. These are done seated and standing. Caregivers are encouraged to participate but not required.
* Remember to consult your physician prior to beginning any exercise plan and follow all safety recommendations. At any time, if you feel discomfort, pain, dizziness, or your heart is beating abnormally, stop exercising immediately and consult a health care professional if necessary.
INSTRUCTOR

ANNE NEWMAN
Anne has been an integral part of the Adapted Exercise Clinic since 2010. Beyond her Kinesiology background, she has worked as a research coordinator at the MUHC Lymphedema clinic. As well, she has been a dedicated volunteer at AMI-QUEBEC (ACTION ON MENTAL ILLNESS) since 2006, serving as a support group facilitator and member of the Board of Directors.
This experience has contributed largely to her special interest in the benefits of physical activity for folks with mobility disorders and for people with mental illness.
