Jewish Harlem: Surprise!

Don your virtual walking shoes! Expert New York guide, Barry Judelman, will lead us through the streets of Harlem, which was once the third largest Jewish community in the world, after New York’s Lower East Side and Warsaw, Poland. We will hear about the legendary people who made up this community for the very rich, the show business presence of the likes of the Gershwins, Milton Berle and Sophie Tucker, and we shall pass the sites of some of the most celebrated Jewish institutions, (many of which are now churches), such as the “Shul with the Pool”, the Ethiopian Hebrew Synagogue and Ansche Chesed, one of the oldest congregations in the United States. This tour is sure to be a real eye-opener!
