Ljubljana: Europe’s Beautiful Hidden Gem

Although very small and almost unheard of, this undiscovered gem of Europe is often compared with Prague, due to its beautiful architecture, influenced over fifty centuries by many different masters.

Ljubljana sits on a lovely river littered with charming bridges. Its streets are full of restaurants, bars and cafes, pedestrianized to enhance quiet and relaxation. Its history, tracing back to the twelfth century, is replete with fascinating and unexpected stories, from Roman times to the medieval period with its first Jewish inhabitants, through prosperous 18th and 19th centuries, to a turbulent 20th Century of two World Wars. It is what has been called the “cute” and “crazy” capital of Slovenia. Let the proud native, Mateja, be our enthusiastic guide!
