Ensemble Tessala is a meeting of three musicians from very different backgrounds. Passionate about ancient music, whether classical, liturgical or popular, they revisit Arabo-Andalusian, Jewish or Baroque melodies, even going so far as to re-appropriate Quebec folk tunes. While respecting the aesthetics of each of its influences, Ensemble Tessala presents its repertoire in a contemporary form, developing original arrangements that leave plenty of room for improvisation.
