PLANNED GIVING: DIFFERENT WAYS TO REACH ONE GOAL

A planned gift to the CJCS Foundation is a powerful way to make a lasting investment in the Cummings Centre and its mission to enrich and safeguard the well-being of our community’s seniors.

You can contribute a gift that suits your financial situation, while reflecting what is most important and meaningful to you. Planned giving provides significant tax advantages, so that you can continue transforming the lives of seniors, and enjoy the peace of mind in knowing that your legacy will live on.

Below are some options for your consideration:

CHARITABLE BEQUESTS

Making the CJCS Foundation a beneficiary in your will is a simple and thoughtful way to leave a legacy, while making a difference for generations to come. A receipt for the full amount of the donation may offset capital gains or other taxes payable, while lessening the financial burden on your loved ones. Speak with your notary about preparing a codicil that allows you to make simple amendments without the need to rewrite your will.

ENDOWMENT FUNDS

Another way to ensure that our seniors are cared for far into the future is the creation of an endowment – a financial gift that creates a permanent source of income. You can create an endowment in your own name or in the name of someone you love. On birthdays or other occasions, you may wish to ask your loved ones to contribute to your endowment fund, as a means of involving them in a cause that is important to you.

An endowment fund at the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors Foundation may be established with a contribution of $10,000 or more, and only the interest is used to fund the Centre’s activities. Since the capital amount of your generous gift remains intact, your endowment becomes an everlasting gift to the Centre.

MAJOR GIFTS

Major donors are individuals, foundations or corporations who contribute a minimum of $10,000 to the CJCS Foundation. These gifts may be designated or non-designated.

Designated giving allows you to support an area of the Cummings Centre which interests you personally, safeguarding the services or programs that matter to you. Non-designated funds are used at the Centre’s discretion, where funding is needed most.

Enriching the lives of our seniors and protecting our most vulnerable can only happen through continued support from our Foundation.  For more information about Planned Giving opportunities, please contact Cathy Simons, Executive Director, CJCS Foundation at 514.734.1777 or [email protected].
