Persian Jewry: A Precious History
Persian Jewish history, a vast store of prophets, poetry, music, languages, cuisine and traditions; unique to this fascinating group, who arose out of the biblical deserts and villages of Iran two millennia ago. Flung across the world as one of Judaism’s oldest diaspora communities, the Jews of Iran have forged a culture that was once Persian and Jewish. Led by Persian scholar, Alan Niku, we will examine how the knowledge of the past might inform the future of the second Diaspora of Iranian Jews in the U.S. and Israel and ponder how this precious heritage may be preserved.
