You Say When & Where – Volunteer Involvement In person and Online

Volunteering allows flexibility that isn’t always possible with a regular job. Especially here, at the Cummings Centre, we pride ourselves on the great flexibility that our volunteer opportunities allow. Find volunteer involvement you can do in person or online, from the comfort of your own home with flexible hours.

We have needs for volunteers in so many areas:

  • If physical health is important for you, we’re recruiting volunteers in our Workout studio gym in Montreal!
  • If you’re drawn to serving with a smile, “Café Soleil” is always looking for kind and helpful people.
  • If you love crafting, our Arts & Crafts Department can help you find ways to give back to your community.
  • Or, take a peek at our Leadership Programs, Committee Work and intergenerational projects, to name just a few!
Marty Cooper: A Man and His Craft

For Marty Cooper, it all started with a simple desire to reconnect with a craft that he remembered fondly: woodworking. With time and guidance, he improved so much that his instructor, Hershey Fitleberg’s, encouraged him to use his talent for a greater purpose. Marty shares: “I now work as a volunteer twice a week producing items to raise money for the Centre for sale in the gift shop.” There are so many different ways you can give back to your community! “Being at the Cummings Centre has given me that opportunity”, shares Marty.

Dawna Lazare: A Real Changemaker

What can differentiate the Cummings Centre from other organizations is our team’s devotion to training volunteers to become the best leaders they can be. Dawna Lazare confides: “I had done quite a bit of volunteer work at other organizations before I joined Cummings. My experience here has been so unique and so enriching.”  Dawna is serving as the chairperson of multiple committees and is involved in the C2C program, which brings Cummings Centre activities to seniors in the community. She’s a true ambassador!

Lucienne Azoulay: A Woman of Heart

Maybe you’re like Lucienne Azoulay — simply looking to make the most of those small, yet sometimes truly wonderful, moments. “For several years, I have had the privilege of giving my time to support the community and build meaningful connections,” confides Lucienne, who has welcomed participants, organized activities, and been there for people when they needed it most. As she says, “Every gesture, no matter how simple, can brighten someone’s day.”
