Social Action

Empowering Seniors Through Awareness and Education!

True advocacy is based on understanding and empowering ourselves and others. Through education and information sharing, the Cummings Centre Social Action Committee raises awareness about key issues facing seniors today, such as ageism, the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), consumer protection, elder abuse, frauds and scams, tenants’ rights and so many others. The Social Action Committee is responsible for researching, planning and offering programs and resources that respond thoughtfully to questions and concerns of seniors.

We recently concluded a four-part webinar series on Fraud and Scams, which was made possible, in part, by a grant from the Government of Canada’s New Horizon for Seniors Program. The series featured experts who provided insights and advice on how best to protect yourself such being mindful of the three “U”s: Unknown caller or sender, Unexpected contact and Urgent request.

Below you will find the Fraud and Scams resource toolkit.
