MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

With a full year of learning from the pandemic under our belt, the Cummings Centre was well-equipped to navigate through the changes that took place this past year. Guided by the Centre’s physical closure, staff and volunteers continued to leverage our newly developed hybrid model to deliver essential social services, virtual programs and volunteer opportunities focused on providing a sense of connectedness, purpose and reducing social isolation, overall impacting seniors, and their quality of life.
In keeping with our strategic plan refresh, strengthening the Centre’s governance continued to play a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Centre. Two essential committees, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Strategic Plan Oversight were struck undertaking initiatives in support of the Centre’s strategic plan objectives, vision, and values.
All areas of the Centre focused on building and strengthening partnerships, locally and nationally, to achieve organizational and shared goals and cultivate a more inclusive environment. New outreach initiatives such as “C2C – Cummings to Community” and grants from New Horizons for Seniors programs and Quebec Ami des ainés (QADA), expanded our ability to reach under-served and culturally diverse communities.
New collaboration with affiliate agencies and community groups helped us provide meaningful programming to the Russian, LGBTQ+ and francophone communities. Emphasis was also placed on advocacy for seniors’ rights and intergenerational programming to engage younger generations.
Dedicated staff, members, volunteers, partners, and donors, we thank you for being an integral part of this past year with us. We invite you to stay connected, be it in-person or online, as Cummings continues to bring you the best of both worlds.
