IN CELEBRATION OF JDAIM 2021 TWO MUSICAL EVENTS
FREE – LIVE ON ZOOM
February is Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance & Inclusion Month (JDAIM), a unified effort among Jewish organizations worldwide to raise awareness and foster acceptance and inclusion of people with disabilities and mental health conditions and those who love them.
Together, we are able to foster inclusion in our homes and community’s.
Everyone is welcome to join us for:
MUSICKING AND MENTAL HEALTH
FEB 18 • 1 – 2 PM
WITH ANDY MACDONALD, MUSICIAN & MUSIC THERAPIST
Whenever we play or sing an unplanned musical phrase, we are improvising. The act of creating spontaneous music can be helpful for those living with mental health issues in many ways that may surprise us. Andy MacDonald, an accredited music therapist, will give an interactive presentation on “musicking,” and how to incorporate more of it into our lives. He will then open up the inclusive presentation for a music-making component. To register, click here
BROADWAY BOOGIE
FEB 22 • 3 PM – 4 PM
WITH DEBORA FRIEDMANN, DIRECTOR & CHOREOGRAPHER
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SEGAL CENTRE
Bring the joy of Broadway into your homes and bodies with some Broadway Boogie!
Dance to your favourite show tunes without having to leave your chair! We will dance to classics like “Dancing Queen”, “I got Rhythm”, “All That Jazz”, and “Take Back Your Mink!” This class is inclusive and is designed for low impact boogie-ing and low mobility dancers. Get your exercise and feel like a star at the same time!” To register, click here
