Portraits Of Character: Life Before The Holocaust: Jono David

This presentation is a photographic celebration of personality and identity that thaws the invariable freeze-frame of history within which survivors are portrayed. Photographer Jono David’s portraits reveal layers of joy, success, and memories that weave a life together. In this presentation, Jono delineates the aims of his project, contrasts his work to that of other photographers, and challenges the audience members to recalibrate their survivor impressions. The audience will also hear directly from five survivors in a short video.
