“A Strategic Partnership”

Jacques Saada, President of the Communauté sépharade unifiée du Québec (CSUQ), takes great satisfaction in the close collaboration between his organization and the Cummings Centre. The partnership first started last year and is beginning to show signs of success.

“Today, community-based organizations are more efficient when they build strategic partnerships between them. From now on, the Cummings Centre is a strategic partner of the CSUQ, and vice versa. We have laid the foundation for a joint collaboration that is very promising.”

Coming together for special events

Over the past year, the CSUQ and the Cummings Centre organized many special events that were highly successful: a large Mimouna evening, in partnership with Congregation Spanish & Portuguese, the Fédération sépharade du Canada and Israel Bonds. “The collaboration between the CSUQ and Cummings is getting stronger and stronger.”

Meeting the needs of seniors a priority

“Increasing the participation of Sephardic seniors, aged 50 and over, in the many programs and activities offered at Cummings is a priority for the leaders of both organizations.

The Cummings Centre is investing in its programs, services, human resources and the use of French in its communications. This pushes us to continue our work of understanding the needs of these seniors in order to provide them a special place throughout our institution.”

The Cummings Centre’s mission is to empower and enhance the quality of life of adults age 50 and over by providing dynamic and innovative programs, social services, and volunteer opportunities in a vibrant, respectful, inclusive and compassionate environment. Building on its Jewish heritage, Cummings embraces people from all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

As the hub of Montreal’s 50+ community, the Centre touches the lives of 10,000 people on an annual basis. In addition to its main campus at 5700 Westbury Avenue in Montreal, programs are offered at several off-site locations including the West Island, Cote Saint-Luc, St.LaurentWestmountChomedey and Florida.
